PREMIER LEAGUE TO USE TECHNOLOGY
Premier League will become the first league to use technology to determine player ratings. Cameras will be installed at every Premier League stadium to provide material for analysis by video game publisher Electronic Arts in time for a planned overhaul of the league's official player ratings system for the 2011-12 season.
FIFA's lawmaking panel has yet to reconsider the use of goal-line technology since the World Cup, so the cameras cannot be used to aid officials with the sort of controversial decision that involved England at the tournament.
Walcott Misses Out
Arsenal winger Theo Walcott was the surprise omission from Fabio Capello's 23-man England World Cup squad.
Walcott, 21, who has 11 caps, started both of England's recent friendly victories against Mexico and Japan.
Darren Bent, Adam Johnson, Scott Parker, Michael Dawson, Leighton Baines and Tom Huddlestone also miss out.
Gareth Barry is included after a fitness test on his ankle injury, while Stephen Warnock, Michael Carrick and Ledley King also make the squad.
McClaren: England Need Rooney

Derby reject Offer
Officials at Derby County Football Club have refused a £37m offer from a former chairman to buy the club, though the online betting suggests that another bid might be accepted in the near future.
Businessman Peter Gadsby made the bid to take back ownership after becoming disillusioned with the direction the Pride Park club was taking. The deal might depend on Forex Trading, with the dollar at a record low to the pound.
Beckham goes Green and Gold
David Beckham knows a must-have fashion accessory when he sees one. Now he has stolen the front pages again, this time not with a sarong or butterfly stitches but with a green and gold scarf. Looks good against the black shirt, no?
So he's lining up with the Manchester United supporters who wear the scarf as a statement of their dislike of the club's owners, the Glazers. There's no other reason for wearing it, as everybody in football knows.
Football Club wound Up
The debt-ridden company behind Chester City FC has today been wound up, the club have confirmed.
Chester City FC 2004 Ltd failed to settle its debts with HM Revenue & Customs resulting in the adjudication at the high court in London this morning.
In January, the company was given six weeks to finalise proposals for a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) aimed at enabling the club, which was formed in 1885, to clear their immediate debts – £26,125 of which is owed to the taxman.
They, however, failed to do that and so today succumbed to a compulsory winding up order.

The categories were arrived at after a high-level meeting between the NFF board led by Sanni Lulu Abdullahi, head of marketing Idris Adama, and marketing consultant Mike Itemuagbor.
Sunderland make £26m loss
Sunderland football club is in good financial shape, despite making a £26million loss, according to chairman Niall Quinn.
He told the Echo that Portsmouth's fall from footballing grace will never be mirrored on Wearside. Its not about getting lucky on the lottery or scratch cards but on running a healthy football club, at a profit.
The south coast club faces a nine-point deduction and relegation from the Premier League at the very least after going into administration to avoid a Revenue and Customs winding-up petition earlier this month.
