Cech eager to face-off with Manchester Clubs

Arsenal have consistently been able to snatch one of the top spots in the English Premier League, but have lacked the ambition to actually win it. Even though it’s still a fantastic achievement for any team to do, fans of the club want to see Arsene Wenger and his squad to accomplish more.

As each season passes by, it seems like Arsenal simply cannot break their curse of not snatching the 1st spot since the season of 2003-04. Even after having spent a significant amount of cash in highly-rated players such as Mesut Ozil and more recently, Alexandre Lacazette who was signed for a fee of £47 million.

Mesut Ozil’s arrival to the Emirates Stadium was for a slightly less amount of money as the German midfielder had a transfer fee of £42 million back on September of 2013. Even with these highly-rated performers, it does not appear like it has benefit Arsenal enough for them to become true contenders of actually winning the English Premier League. According to online-betting.org, they are the fifth favouriets for the title, behind both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, and even Tottenham.

In the current season of 2017-18 of the EPL, Arsenal have positioned themselves at the 5th spot with 19 points from the 10 opening matches of the season which is the traditional zones that they have been spotted at during the past decade.

Despite not being considered as a genuine contender of becoming the new champions of England, Petr Cech appears to be very excited about facing-off with other teams that are currently going through a superb start of season, these clubs are: Manchester United and Manchester City.

Manchester City is at the top of the EPL with 28 points from the 10 opening league games while Manchester United is following them closely behind with 23 points. In spite of the dominance that the Manchester clubs have been displaying in the early stages of the league, Arsenal’s Petr Cech is eager to play against them.

"We have still to play City and United, so there will be opportunities to get closer to them but we have responded well to the disappointing defeat at Liverpool. Everybody has been doing their job and the positive results have given us the confidence we need We are playing better as a team. We’re covering our mistakes with our hard work and the cohesion and defensive attitude is there. This is the way to go forward" Cech said.

Out of these 10 opening league games, Arsenal’s toughest opponents that they have faced so far have been Liverpool and Chelsea. On August 27 of 2017, Arsenal faced off with Liverpool and lost 0-4 but they did manage to secure a goal-less draw against Chelsea.

Arsenal has already faced off with top clubs in the English Premier League and it has not ended in a positive manner for the team of Arsene Wenger with only 1 point secured from those previously mentioned 2 matches but nonetheless, Petr Cech wants to see his team playing against the current table-toppers Manchester United and Manchester City.

Fortunately for Petr Cech, Arsenal are scheduled to play against Manchester City on November 8 and almost 1 month later, they will be competing against Manchester United on December 2. Whether or not Arsenal is able to secure a triumph in any of these upcoming matches is something that remains to be seen but considering just how dominant that the Manchester clubs have been, it might be much harder for Arsenal to win than how Petr Cech is expecting it to be.

Manchester City still haven't suffered any defeats so far in the current season of 2017-18 while Manchester United recently claimed victories against highly-rated clubs including: Tottenham Hotspur and Benfica.

Arsenal on the other hand, sustained a 1-2 defeat over Watford on October 14 and could only muster a 2-1 triumph against the relegation threatened club Swansea City.
