Cech predicts bright future ahead for Chelsea boss Lampard

Chelsea’s technical advisor Petr Cech believes Frank Lampard could have a bright future ahead with the Blues. The 41-year-old was handed the managerial role following Maurizio Sarri’s departure last summer and he has since worked with the first-team squad without making any additions from the transfer market.

Of course, the Blues could not spend last summer after the one-year transfer window ban from FIFA but they managed to nullify the punishment after a successful CAS appeal during the month of December. Despite this, the club’s hierarchy decided against making any new signings during the January transfer window and that has somewhat increased the pressure on the manager, given the untimely injuries for a number of first-team regulars.

In an interview covered by Goal.com, Cech heaped praise on his former Chelsea teammate and was impressed with the way he has handled the proceedings after the transfer embargo, he told: “The big advantage is that everybody knows Frank from his playing time. The determination, his work ethic and personality. Put it together with the fact that we wanted to unite the club in many ways, the club knew there was the transfer ban for a part of this season and we wanted to use the younger players whilst we try to make this all work together in cohesion. ‘Having signed Frank we believe that he has a bright future as a manager.”

Chelsea have been inconsistent during the second half of the season where they have been unable to register back-to-back league wins. Despite this, they have benefited from the impressive run of from between October and November, where they won six games on the bounce. The west London outfit are currently placed fourth on the table but they are just three points ahead of Manchester United, who are unbeaten for 11 games in all competitions.
