CECH RAISES DOUBTS OVER CHELSEA

Chelsea legend Petr Cech has raised doubts over the club finishing the season amidst the sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich from the British government. Cech, who is the technical and performance director, raised doubts over Chelsea completing the current season in a chat with Sky Sports just before the 1-0 home win over Newcastle United on Sunday. According to him, Chelsea is running on a day-to-day basis at the moment.

Blues owner Abramovich was sanctioned by the British government following the invasion of Ukraine by the Vladimir Putin-led Russian government. The Chelsea owner is a known ally of the Russian president and this was a major reason behind him being heavily sanctioned by the British government thus affecting Chelsea and putting the long-term future of the club in jeopardy.

After the sanctions from the British government on Abramovich, Chelsea were given a special licence to go ahead with football-related activities, but the Premier League club can no longer sell merchandise or tickets, sell or sign players, and they cannot renew the contracts of their players.
Speaking further on how Chelsea officials and players are coping with the situation, Petr Cech said that it's a difficult situation and that they have a lot of questions with little answers. Petr Cech went on to say that they are determined to focus on the things they can control which is supporting each other, working with people, coming to training and focusing on games.
Since the sanctions were delivered on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovichby the British government last week, the West London giants have won all their two games in all competitions with both coming in the Premier League. They secured a 3-1 away win over Norwich City at Carrow Road on Thursday night before a late Kai Havertz goal ensured that they beat Newcastle United 1-0 at home.
