Chelsea’s Petr Cech goes undercover to sign Timo Werner

Frank Lampard and Petr Cech have made an undercover visit to RB Leipzig in order to convince the player to join Chelsea. As per the reports,Blues have offered Timo Werner £53 million and has agreed to all the clauses proposed by the club. Werner has been the target of Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea for a long time. Many have anticipated for Klopp to take him to Merseyside but it was Lampard who landed the deal.

According to the reports of Telegraph, both of the former teammates Frank Lampard and Petr Cechhave visited during the mid-break in the winter season. The duo had a meeting with Werner and explained how he will fit right into the plans of Chelsea. It was explained how Lampard will like to play in the club and Werner was impressed by the plan.

After the discussion, all of them havebeenin contact with each other. As the reports suggest that he has been impressed by the plans of Chelsea and when the time came he has drifted to them. Cech has played a major role as he is fluent in German which helped in better communication with the player’s father and agent.
Liverpool was the one who was anticipated to sign Werner but the release clause of £53 million made them rethink the decision. With the current COVID 19 pandemic, the club like other clubs had issues on finance. Chelsea is on the better position as in the last season they were put on transfer ban and with selling Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, they are in a better financial position than Liverpool.
Lampard and Cech have been playing together for 10 years and the pair as teammateshave won three league titles, a Champions League title and Europa League title. In last summer, Lampard became the manager and Cech became the sporting director in Stamford Bridge.
