The manager of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, has said that the contract of John Terry will surely be extended if he keeps his good form going.
Terry has been in fantastic form since the start of the ongoing season. Recently, he found the net for the first time in the season in the match against the local rivals Tottenham Hotspur. That goal of Terry helped Chelsea secure a point in that game.
The last season wasn’t that fruitful for Terry. The interim boss Rafa Benitez wasn’t impressed with his form and fitness and he didn’t give the 32 years old defender regular playing chances. But, under the new boss Jose Mourinho, Terry is playing on a regular basis and he is doing a great job for the side as well.
Recently, in an interview, when Mourinho was asked about the extension of Terry’s contract, he said, “John doesn’t need to think about that at all. The kind of form he is in, if he maintains that, he is surely going to get a new contract.”
“I have asked him just to concentrate on his form and fitness. He is a fantastic player and the players of his calibre shouldn’t get concerned about contracts and all.”
“In the last few years, there was a lot of pressure on him. But, under me, he is relaxed and that’s very important. If you are playing without any pressure, you are going to give your best.”
“I am a great admirer of his abilities. He works very hard on his fitness and his game. He is a great guy.”
Terry has been playing for Chelsea since the last 15 years. He has made more than 390 league appearances for them and has found the net 33 times.
