Petr Cech Unhappy with Southampton Draw

Petr Cech was understandably disappointed after his Arsenal team were involved in a 1-1 win Southampton during the weekend. The Czech Republic shot stopper claims that his teammates were not prepared well for this match. Arsenal have been going through a poor run of form of late and have dropped several points. As a result, the team are in danger of missing out on European football altogether – considering the competition and quality shown by the likes of Burnley this season. Olivier Giroud had to come up with a late equaliser in order to help Arsenal get at least a point from the match.

After having conceded several early goals in recent matches, Arsenal witnessed Charlie Austin opening the scoring after just three minutes on the clock. Even though it seemed like Arsenal would drop more points after the recent defeat against Manchester United, the team clawed back in the final minutes to get a point. Even then, goalkeeper Petr Cech was not happy with the outcome as it meant that the team was dropping more points in the league. Cech, though, claimed that it was an excellent second-half performance from his team and that they deserved the point. If Arsenal continued to drop such points against teams lower down the table, the team may be finding itself hard to get anything out of the campaign.

“We deserved to get a point for the second half performance. We put them under pressure and created more than in the first half. We don't deserve all three because we gave them good chances in the start and could have been 3-0 down. The first 10 minutes cost us the game against Man United. And it almost did again today. It is something we have to work on. 1-1 is a fair result. Every player needs to ensure that when they step out of the dressing room they are ready to compete,” said Cech.
