CECH BELIEVES THAT CHELSEA WILL HAVE A GREAT SEASON

While there is a growing belief at Stamford Bridge that Chelsea could still be successful in their bid to sign Norway international striker ErlingHaaland from German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund this summer, the club's director Petr Cech believes that the club will have a great season regardless of their transfer activities this summer.

Chelsea have been courting Haaland for quite some time now and even though reports claim that the 20-year-old striker is willing and ready to join the Blues, Dortmund have continued to remain adamant that they do not want to sell him - at least not in this summer.

Cech was asked if it was the right decision by the club to let go of Giroud without getting a replacement first, but the club's former goalkeeper responded by saying that the club have plans in place. He first acknowledged that Giroud is a top striker and it was not easy to watch him leave the club but it was the best decision because he was not playing enough games as he would love to. Cech said that the club had to grant Giroud's desire of leaving Stamford Bridge as they could not promise him more game time in London.

When quizzed about the club's plans regarding the pursuit of Haaland, Cech said that he would not be drawn into talks about players who are still contracted to other clubs. However, he did mention that Chelsea will always try to observe the transfer market and try to get the best available players so they can continue preparing their squad to be able to fight for titles.

Cech then concluded by saying that the club are trying to put everything in place before the new season starts, adding that he strongly believes that they will be having a great campaign in the coming Premier League season.
