CECH PRAISES QUARTET FOR ‘STEPPING UP'

Chelsea director Petr Cech has singled out four players for stepping up during the West London Derby win over Brentford just after the recently concluded international break. Petr Cech made this known in a chat with the Chelsea website as he praised the contributions of Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Malang Sarr and Trevor Chalobah.

Petr Cech was impressed with the aforementioned Chelsea quartet for the role they played in delivering a hard fought win over newly promoted club Brentford in their Premier League matchup last week Saturday. Chelsea were able to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table thanks to the slim 1-0 win over the Bees in front of their home fans at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Senegalese international shot stopper Mendy faced a lot of Brentford chances during the game and he was equal to the task. Mendy made several world-class saves to ensure that Chelsea kept a clean sheet on the way to picking up the three points at stake thanks to the strike from England international Ben Chilwell just before the end of the first half. After the game, Chelsea teammate Antonio Rudiger questioned why he was snubbed for the 30-man BallonD'or Award list released a few weeks back.
Apart from Mendy, Sarr and Chalobah were also part of the defence that kept a clean sheet against Brentford. Chalobah and Sarr were given the opportunity to shine due to the absence of Thiago Silva and Rudiger. Thiago Silva missed the game due to national team commitment with the Brazil, while German defender Rudiger picked up a little injury while he was with his country during the international break this month thus forcing him to miss the game against West London rivals Brentford.
Chelsea legend Petr Cech was also impressed with the performance of Ruben Loftus-Cheek in midfield.
