Petr Cech has revealed what Chelsea must do to retain their UEFA Champions League (UCL) title this season. In his column for the official website of the club, Petr Cech stated that it's very difficult to retain the Champions League title and that one needs the element of everything going well in addition to being lucky for the feat of retaining the title to come to pass.
Petr Cech spoke to the official Chelsea website shortly after the Blues began the defence of their Champions League title with a hard-fought win over Russian Premier League champions Zenit St. Petersburg thanks to the second half strike from Belgian international RomeluLukaku. Lukaku scored the only goal to propel the Blues to a 1-0 home win over Zenit. Cech said that other teams will have extra motivation when they face Chelsea who are the defending champions. According to him, the Chelsea players must brace up for the challenge of being the champions as he warned that the team should continue to build from the win over Zenit.
Chelsea have started well in the Premier League in addition to the Champions League and they are joint top alongside Liverpool after five games. Also, the Blues added the UEFA Super Cup title to the Champions League title won last season by beating Spanish team Villarreal on penalties last month after the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes.
