Mikel Arteta had masterminded a poor run of seven league games without a win for Arsenal that saw the team drop into the bottom six places on the log and with a lot of work to do to catch up with the teams in the Champions League places.

Mikel Arteta received an unflinching public support from Petr Cech during his interview with TalkSports as he called on the Arsenal board and fans to show patience with Mikel Arteta despite losing eight of the first 14 league games of the new season. Petr Cech and Mikel Arteta shared the Arsenal dressing room for one season (2015/16 campaign) and the former was so certain that Arteta will turn things around. The Arsenal board and fans are better for it after listening to the advice of Petr Cech by not pulling the plug on Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard has been able to overcome the aforementioned slump in formto lead Arsenal to three straight wins in the league.

After a run of seven matches without a win in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta and his players have recovered with wins over Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion and West Bromin the league thereby moving up the table. Arsenal have move to the top of the bottom half as far as the Premier League table is concerned. The Gunners are now three points off the top of the table.
Petr Cech is the performance and technical director at Chelsea after returning to the club at the end of his four-year contract with Arsenal. His Chelsea team is the present London club under pressure after a run of one win in the last six league games. Arsenal are now two places and three points adrift of Chelsea.
