Chelsea legend Petr Cech has leapt to the defence of RomeluLukaku after a bad season on his return to the club from Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan last summer. Petr Cech was asked about Lukaku at a charity event earlier this month as he revealed that he expects a better second season from the Belgian international.
On the bad season from Lukaku, Petr Cech said the Belgian international struggled for form due to Covid-19 and a long-term injury.
His first game at Stamford Bridge produced two goals in a 3-0 home win over Aston Villa.
In his first three Premier League teams, Lukaku scored three goals. By the end of the season, his return was eight goals in 26 matches. He added two more goals in six Champions League games, while he failed to score in four League Cup matches as Chelsea were beaten finalists on penalties.
Lukaku will most likely not spend a second season at Chelsea like Petr Cech said after Inter Milan agreed a return to the club on loan. Chelsea and Inter Milan have agreed a deal worth €8m plus add-ons for his return to the San Siro without any option or obligation to sign him at the end of the loan deal.
