CECH DELIGHTED WITH MULTIPLE CHELSEA DEBUTS

Chelsea director Petr Cech was delighted that a lot of the young players were given a taste of top flight football amidst the ongoing injury crisis and Covid-19 cases at the club. Petr Cechexpressed his happiness for the youngsters in his column on the Chelsea website.

Petr Cech was delighted as three young Chelsea players made their debuts during the Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash with fellow Premier League team Brentford. He said the current situation involving injuries and COVID-19 cases made it difficult for manager Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff to prepare for the West London clash with the Bees. Cech further stated that the situation gave younger players the chance to play for the senior team during an important game.
Xavier Simons, Jude Soonsup-Bell and Harvey Bell were all handed their Chelsea debuts during the Carabao Cup last eight clash with Brentford.

The young players were impressive during the Carabao Cup clash as they did well to reduce the workload of the senior players.

Brentford skipper Pontus Jansson put through his own net off the assist from England international substitute Reece James for the opener before a Jorginho penalty sealed the 2-0 result for Chelsea and ensure their passage to the final four of the competition.

Chelsea will now face Tottenham Hotspur in another London Derby in the next stage of the competition for the right to feature in the Carabao Cup final. The two teams will face each other in a double header at the start of next month todetermine the London team that will take their place in the final two of the Carabao Cup.

In the otherCarabao Cup semi-final tie, Arsenal and Liverpool will face off with each other to determine the team that will face one of Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
