Chelsea legend Petr Cech has slammed the bizarre Covid-19 protocols that ensured that the Chelsea duo of Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell missed the final Group D clash between England and the Czech Republic. Petr Cech was at a loss on the protocols that forced Mount and Chilwell to sit out the final group game for the Three Lions.

Covid-19 protocols forced the Chelsea duo of Chilwell and Mount into self-isolation on the day of the match with the Czech Republic after they were deemed to have been in contact with club teammate Billy Gilmour who has since joined newly promoted Premier League team Norwich City on loan for the new season. The England duo of Chilwell and Mount were forced to self-isolate after Gilmour tested positive for Covid-19.


Chelsea legends Petr Cech and Frank Lampard are back on the same team for the first time since January when Lampard was sacked as the Chelsea manager. The two former Chelsea players are part of the BBC line-up for the coverage of the ongoing Euro 2020 tournament but they won't cover the same game.

Petr Cech and Lampard shared the dressing room at Chelsea for several years winning several major trophies together including the Champions League title in 2012. Cech was the hero for Chelsea as he saved penalties in both extra time and during the shootout in the final against Bayern Munich to propel the Blues to their first title in the competition.


Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy earned rave reviews for his performance against Real Madrid in their semi-final tie especially in the second leg as he helped the Blues reach the final of the competition at the expense of their more illustrious opponents.

Real Madrid have won the European Cup/Champions League on 13 occasions, while Chelsea have just one win and that came in the 2011/12 campaign.

Chelsea legend Petr Cech played a big role in the signing of Mendy from one of his former clubs Rennes in the French Ligue 1 last summer. The Blues paid £24m for his transfer and the Senegalese international has been able to repay some of the money spent on his signing with the series of impressive performances from him in the colours of his new team.


Chelsea director Petr Cech has sent a birthday message to John Obi Mikel who was his teammates at the West London club for many years.
Petr Cech sent the message as a reply to the birthday post made on April 22 by the official Instagram handle of Chelsea in honour of the Nigerian midfielder who now plays in the English Championship with Stoke City.

Mikel was celebrated by Chelsea on his big day with support from former teammates like Petr Cech and John Terry. The Stoke City player was at the centre of a transfer war between Chelsea and Manchester United before the Blues eventually won the race to sign him. He went on to win the Young Player of the Year in his first season at the club.


Petr Cech believes that Thomas Tuchel can deliver the Champions League trophy for Chelsea this season as reported by media outlet Football London. Petr Cech knows all about winning the Champions League having won the competition while he was a player at the club.
Cech was in goal when Chelsea beat German giants Bayern Munich on penalties in the 2012 Champions League final to win the competition for the first time in their history. He is now the technical and performance director at the club having ended his career a few years ago.

Petr Cech is confident that Tuchel can use his European experience to guide Chelsea to Champions League glory. He talked about how the German tactician led French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) to the final last season before they were beaten by Bayern Munich.


Chelsea technical and performance director Petr Cech was a key player for the Czech Republic during his international career. Petr Cech played for the various age groups of his country starting from the u15 team in November 1997 before he went on to make his debut for the senior team in February 2002. The 38-year-old was instrumental to the first youth title in the history of Czech Republic football after his penalty shootout heroics against France at the 2002 u-21 European Championships. Petr Cech let in just one of the penalties during penalty shootout to lead his country to the title at the expense of France.

Former Chelsea player Robert Huth has revealed how much of a skilled person his former teammate Petr Cech is when it comes to being a leader. The former defender said he always viewed Cech as a leader because of how cool, calm, and collected he was especially during moments when one would be expected to be panicking. The pair played together at Stamford Bridge for a couple of years and they enjoyed each other's company so well.

Huth was speaking in an interview with The Athletic where he made the comments, while also adding that the former Czech Republic number one would always preach and promote togetherness in the Blues' dressing room back then and that he also had the skill to relate with anyone.

Thiago Silva cannot understand Chelsea’s poor form

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has admitted that he is baffled by the poor form experienced by the club. The blues slumped to their worst run of the season after a 3-1 loss to Manchester City on Sunday. This was the fifth defeat of the campaign for the team, who have now lost four out of the last six league outings. Even though the second-half performance against Manchester City was impressive Chelsea, their overall game has left many players confused about the current situation. Petr Cech and Mikel Arteta shared the Arsenal dressing room for one season (2015/16 campaign) and the former was so certain that Arteta will turn things around. The Arsenal board and fans are better for it after listening to the advice of Petr Cech by not pulling the plug on Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard has been able to overcome the aforementioned slump in formto lead Arsenal to three straight wins in the league.
