Petr Cech was one of the few ex-Arsenal players that backed Mikel Arteta publicly while the Arsenal manager was under serious pressure to save his job. Mikel Arteta had masterminded a poor run of seven league games without a win for Arsenal that saw the team drop into the bottom six places on the log and with a lot of work to do to catch up with the teams in the Champions League places.
Mikel Arteta received an unflinching public support from Petr Cech during his interview with TalkSports as he called on the Arsenal board and fans to show patience with Mikel Arteta despite losing eight of the first 14 league games of the new season. Petr Cech and Mikel Arteta shared the Arsenal dressing room for one season (2015/16 campaign) and the former was so certain that Arteta will turn things around. The Arsenal board and fans are better for it after listening to the advice of Petr Cech by not pulling the plug on Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard has been able to overcome the aforementioned slump in formto lead Arsenal to three straight wins in the league.
