David Ospina Accepts Petr Cech Remains First Choice despite Competition

David Ospina is in danger of being the forgotten man at Arsenal, as manager Arsene Wenger has been utilising the Colombian only in the cup games.


Petr Cech continues to be the first choice for the club when it comes to the big games. Arsenal were aware of Cech’s interest in moving to the Emirates stadium only at a later stage after they had already brought in David Ospina from Nice. At 28 years of age, the Colombian is entering into the peak period for a goalkeeper. He would want to play a major role in the team, butOspina has been only given opportunities in the Champions League and other cup competitions.

PETR CECH HAILS JENS LEHMANN

The talented shot stopper took out time to praise the former Gunner. Cech told the club’s official website: “I competed against him for a number of years, and he is a big character. He has been a big player for Arsenal and I’m sure the fans will like seeing him back for that game,” speaking of the Arsenal Legends game against Milan Glories.

CLARKE LEAVES IT TO BIG SAM

Cech suffers car accident

As if it was not enough to concede four goals in the game against Liverpool Arsenal’s goalkeeper Petr Cech has been involved in a car accident.


The former Chelsea player crashed his car into a pillar at the Emirates Stadium as he was returning home. However, it is reported that there is no injury as the player has walked out of the car and back to the stadium.

Petr Cech had a difficult Sunday after his side conceded three goals in the second half. Arsenal started the game well and opened the scoring through Theo Walcott in the first half. The England forward was also the culprit of missing a penalty that was well saved by Simon Mignolet. However, Liverpool will equalize at the end of the first half on a great free-kick.

Cech considers International Retirement

Petr Cech has confirmed that he is contemplating the prospect of retiring from international football in order to focus on his club career.


The Czech Republic goalkeeper is about to enter the final few years of his club career. Even though recently goalkeepers have started playing beyond the 38 or even into the 40s, it has largely been made possible due to the lack of international football. Doing away with the international action means that players get the opportunity to recuperate during the off-season. Cech might seem to appreciate a break in the summer, but he has been involved in the Euro 2016 with Czech Republic.

Arsenal and Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech has stated that he will be deciding on whether to retire from international football.

Former Chelsea goal stopper, Petr Cech, has won the Premier League Golden Glove award in his first season at the emirates.


The goal keeper kept an amazing 16 clean sheets in the round of matches that makes up the EPL to lift the prize ahead of the hosts of other goal keepers.

His clean sheet in Arsenal’s 4-0 drubbing of relegated Aston Villa in the last EPL game, moved his total one ahead of Manchester United glovesman David De Gea. With United’s final fixture being postponed to Tuesday, it’s not yet known if Cech will win the award outright or be forced to share it with De Gea. The Red Devils goal keeper can’t pass Cech’s total but he can equal if he were to shutout Bournemouth on Tuesday if their final game is finally played, after a bomb scare at Old Trafford led to the postponement.

Will Bendtner move to Copenhagen?

NicklasBendtner was released from his former club Wolfsburg on April 25 of 2016, even though his contract with the German outfit had initially lasted until 2017, his deal was cut short as he failed to make an impact with the team and Wolfsburg announced that they opted to let Bendtner go as he became a free agent.

Shortly after Bendtner was offloaded from Wolfsburg, the CEO of the club Klaus Allofs revealed details concerning the 28 year old Danish player and Klaus Allofs stated that signing NicklasBendtner was a failed experiment from Wolfsburg as he said:

"Signing Bendtner was an experiment and it was not a successful one. Bendtner was a gamble worth taking. He was an extraordinary talent. We were envious of Arsenal when Nicklas was still a young player. But talent alone is not enough. Nicklas is a divisive figure; he is hurting his own career. Of course, we are upset and disappointed that he was unable to fulfill his potential at Wolfsburg."

Cech named Czech footballer of the year

Jack Butland, David de Gea, Kasper Schmeichel and Petr Cech are all of the goal-keepers in the Premier League that have been standing out in this season with impressive performances and these are the players that are already being taken into consideration to be included in the team of the season.

All of those previously mentioned players have made a huge impact with their respective clubs and it’s why they are being considered to be placed in the Premier League squad of the campaign but even though the season is not over, Petr Cech has already started to win awards and recognition after being named for the 8th time as the best player from Czech Republic.

Petr Cech signed with Arsenal in this season but this recent switch of clubs doesn’t seem to have affected him as the veteran player has managed to register 12 clean sheets in 28 matches and he was even able to break a record in the Premier League as he recorded his 170th career clean sheet.

Bilic furious at referee penalty call
